Cookies (the other kind)
What this site stores in your browser. Spoiler: almost nothing.
The short version
This site sets no tracking cookies, runs no advertising network, and loads no third-party analytics. The only cookie it sets keeps you signed in, and only once you sign in. There is nothing to consent to, which is why there is no consent banner.
What is actually stored
If you sign in: one cookie, nl_session, holding a random token that identifies your session to us. It is inaccessible to scripts, is only sent to this site, lasts 30 days from when you last used it, and is deleted when you sign out.
If you choose a theme: one item in your browser’s local storage, the string "light" or "dark". It never leaves your device.
If you arrive through a link with a campaign tag in it (like ?ref=fb-wabasha): one item in your browser’s session storage holding that tag, which your browser deletes when you close the tab. It is sent to us only if you sign up or post a trip during that visit. See the Privacy notice.
If you press play on a YouTube video: YouTube, not us, may store its own data in your browser. Until you press play, nothing from YouTube loads.
The other kind
Regarding fresh baked cookies, we have been advised not to discuss this.
